(Mary was widowed and living with 9 step-children, and 3 children of her own, 1 from a previous marriage (Mary Seal), and 2 from her marriage to John Arnspiger (Luke and Rebecca Arnspenger.)

NOTE - If her birth date was in Dec 1811, then her age should have been 38 instead of 40.

NOTE - This 1850 census was taken only one year after the death of John Arnspiger. His first wife, Catherine Funk, died in 1838 so John remarried 4 years later in 1842 to Mary Crowser, whose name appears on this record as "Mary Arnsparger, age 40". All of the children listed were from his first wife, Catherine Funk, with the exceptions of Martha (Seal), Luke, and Rebecca, as evidenced by the large gap the ages of the children shown above. Note that Martha Seal and Mary Arnsparger were both 14 years old.

Mary Crowser was first married to Thomas Seal in 1831 in Vermillion, Illinois. They produced two children: Martha Ann Seal in 1836 who appears with her remarried mother on this 1850 census and Esther Ann Seal in 1840. Mary Crowser either divorced her first husband, Thomas Seal, or he died and she remarried to John Arnspiger on 28 Sep 1842. It was the second marriage for both of them. The 1850 census record shows the young daughter Martha Seal living with her remarried mother and the rest of Arnspiger family; it is not known where the other daughter, Esther Ann Seal, was for the 1850 Census but she later married James M. Breezley on 22 Dec 1853 in Vermillion, Illinois.

John Arnspiger died 7 years later in 1849 but had managed to father a total of three children with Mary Crowser: John Pinkey Arnspiger who died in 1844, Luke Lyons Arnspiger, and Rebecca Ellen Arnspiger.

Rebecca Ellen Arnspiger married John Davidson Breezley on 02 Apr 1865 in Storey, Iowa, brother of the James M. Breezley, who had married Rebecca's half-sister, Esther Seal.

Mary Crowser went on to later marry Almond Hughes in 1855 in Story County, Iowa and then John William Breezley on 23 Jan 1859 also in Story County, Iowa. Yes, this John William Breezley was the father of both John Davidson Breezley and James M. Breezley who had married two of Mary Crowser's daughters, Esther Ann Seal and Rebecca Ellen Arnspiger.

John William Breezley died in 1875, so the 1880 Census shows the widowed Mary Crowser living with her daughter, Ellen Arnspiger and her husband, John Davidson Breezley.

• She appeared on the 1880 US Census in Union Township, Story County, IA on June 1880. 6

(Living with married daughter, Rebecca, and her family.)

NOTE - Mary Breezley was Rebecca's mother, Mary Crowser. Her name is listed as "Breezley" because she had been remarried to John William Breezley, who was the father of Rebecca's husband, John D. Breezley. Technically this made the relationship of John D. Breezley to Mary Crowser as both a step-son and a son-in-law.

NOTE - If her birth date was in Dec 1811, then her age should have been 68 instead of 66.
