John Ames Samford ^{1 4}

  General Notes:

World Family Archive #15, Pedigree #1757 submitted by Cathi Weber, 1381 10 4th Lane NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota 55433, shows that John Samford had a brother, James Samford, born May 10, 1737, who married a Elizabeth Lightfoot on December 24, 1804. Betty Lightfoot's brother, William, had a daughter that he named "Elizabeth Lightfoot" (daughter of William and Sarah Lightfoot) but she was not born until 1769 which would make Elizabeth 32 years older than James Samford. It seems unlikely that such a great age difference would occur in this union but not impossible. Another possibility is that Betty had another sister with the name of Elizabeth. Still more possibilities include the possibility that "Elizabeth" was the full given name for a nickname of one of the other known Lightfoot daughters. Unless additional records support this specific marriage, I therefore assume that this Elizabeth Lightfoot to be part of a different Lightfoot family.
