Thomas married Lucy about 1780. (Lucy was born about 1760 and died after 19 July 1781.)
Thomas next married Million Miskell, daughter of Henry Miskell and Winifred Dalton, on 2 October 1789 in Richmond County, VA.1 2 3 (Million Miskell was born on 25 June 1749 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, VA, British Colonial America 4 and died after May 1792.)
Noted events in their marriage were:
• They have conflicting marriage information of 2 October 1789 and Richmond, VA. 4
• They appeared on the 1810 US Census in Richmond County, VA on August 1810.
1810 US Census Richmond County, Virginia 1 male under 10 3 females 16-26 1 male over 45 1 female over 45 2 slaves
This suggests he had two more daughters not shown in the parish register. Richmond County Order Book 1814-16, p. 92, under 6 March 1816, shows two suits: Lightfoot vs. Bryant; Slander; Abts. by plts, death. And Same Frances B. vs. same. Sland. Cont. These are indexed as Lightfoot, Lucy M. vs. Bryant, Thomas and as Lightfoot, Francis B., vs. same. From this I take it that Lucy Miskell Lightfoot (born 1790) died early in 1816 and that Frances B. Lightfoot must be another daughter. On the next page, p. 92, 7 March 1816, there is a Lightfoot gdn. & c vs. Smith's admor. Debt cont ., which is indexed Lightfoot, Samule, & c vs. Smith, William, Cs admor. Can this be Samuel who had a guardian in 1816 be the male under 10 in Thomas' household in 1810?
It would appear from the census that Thomas's son, John Newman Brockenbrough Lightfoot (born 1792) was dead by 1810. Thomas had a first marriage not mentioned to _____, since their son Thaddeus Smith Lightfoot was born 19 July 1781. .
