Some researchers indicate that she died at the age of 19y which is what the very faint inscription on the gravestone would appear to indicate but a close examination reveals that it is actually the number 49 instead of 19. The fact that she gave birth to 13 children would also be a clue that she wasn't 19 years old.

• She was buried after 31 December 1842 in the Saint Luke's Cemetery in Ashland, OH.
Age at death on gravestone appears to read 19y 2m but that is obviously a mistake. Probably should be 49y. Although the inscription is very faint, it appears to read "Sacred to the Memory of Sophia, wife of Joseph Fast, who departed this life Dec 31(??), 1842; Aged 49y, 2mos, and ?9ds."

Sophia married Joseph John Fast, son of Francis Fast and Elizabeth Yeager, about 1813 in Probably Masontown, PA.1 (Joseph John Fast was born on 23 October 1787 in Masontown, PA,4 died on 27 December 1835 in Savannah, OH 4 and was buried after 27 December 1835 in Ashland, OH.)

John Joseph Fast (and family) moved to Pennsylvania in 1816 and settled on a farm of 320 acres six miles north of Ashland County, Ohio. John Joseph Fast, and wife Sophia, had 13 children - 7 boys and 6 girls. All children reached maturity.
