bullet  General Notes:

Served in Captain John Field's company, Virginia Militia, from 31 August 1814 until 24 September 1814 and was discharged by furnishing a substitute. He died in Fluvanna on 27 April 1828. His wife lived many years longer and on 16 April 1878, at the age of 87, applied for a pension for her husband's service which was rejected on an administrative decision that the substitution was the one entitled to pension and bounty land (War of 1812, pension, Samuel H. Moon, widow Sallie, WC220004). She apparently had earlier received a land warrant for 80 acres, however, and when she applied she said her residence was in Fluvanna but her post office was Scottsville in Albemarle county.
