   Another name for Clarissa was Clarissa Ellen Mallett.⁸

  General Notes:

She was known by several names. In the 1850 US Census, she was listed as "Ellen Malott" with Rezin Malott and Mary Ellen Fast as the parents of the household. The older sister of Mary Ellen, Marjorie Fast, is believed to be the mother of Clarissa Ellen Malott but she is no longer in the household. By this date, it appears that Marjorie Fast had moved away from Rezin and was living with her young son, Rufus Malott, and her elderly mother, Elizabeth Rex.

In an unexpected surprise, the death certificate for Clarissa Ellen Moran indicates that her mother was Clara Fast instead of Margery Fast. The birth dates for Clara Fast and her other sister, Mary Ellen Fast, tend to be very close and some have speculated that Clara and Mary Ellen may be the same person but that cannot be true. On the 1850 US Census, both Clara and Mary Ellen were listed as living with Rezin Malott. On the 1860 US Census, Clara was living next door to Rezin and his wife, Mary Ellen Fast, who he finally got around to marrying in 1853.
