NOTE - The dates in the marriage register are confusing. The entry states that they were "joined together in the holy state of matrimony on the 30th day of Nov. 1820...as witness my hand and seal this 11th day of Dec. 1820...I certify the above to be a true copy of the original March 20, 1831." Note the years of 1820 and 1831. Many of the other marriages recorded in this area of the register are for ceremonies performed in 1830 and 1831. According to this entry in the register, supposedly their marriage was performed 10 years earlier in 1820 and was just recorded in 1831. This would mean that Nicholas was 17 years old at the time of the marriage while Dorothy was only 8 years old. If they were actually married in 1820, then their first child was not born until 1831. Those 11 years until the first child was born just does not make any sense. I believe any references to the year of 1820 are a mistake and should be 1830 instead.
