  General Notes:

Bessie's marriage application in 1906 has caused some confusion about the name of her father because that document shows her father's name as Samuel Atkinson instead of the expected James Atkinson.

However, her birth records in 1885, the 1900, 1910, and 1930 US Census records show her father's name as James Atkinson. In addition the 1920 US Census shows the name as only James Milton living with William and Bessie and he was listed as "father-in-law". Obviously, the enumerator did not list his complete name of James Milton Atkinson.
