bullet  General Notes:

[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 3, Ed. 1, Tree #2557, Len Traubman]
Letha Moten Scott was named after her mother's twin sisters, Letha and Moten. Letha's father, Alexander M. Scott, said his family Bible had her birth as 16 May, instead of 14 May. The 1880 Census showed her born in 1872, instead of '74. The 1900 Census spelled her name "Leatha". She was raised in Ladoga and was married in her parents' home 19 September 1895 to Harry Daugherty, also from a Ladoga family.

When Letha and her sisters were married, her father, Alexander M. Scott, gave them the choice of a cow or a sewing machine. Letha took the sewing machine, used it, and taught her daughters to sew. Harry Daugherty gave Letha, his bride, a baby grand piano for their wedding.

Harry and Letha lost their first baby 2 years after they were married and didn't have Carl until 3 years after that. Letha was a Daughter of the American Revolution (#202406), having applied 24 July 1924.

She died 17 Jan 1955, Indianapolis, and is buried in Sect 58, Crown Hill Cemetery.
