² Erlene Marie Hustead, 72, of Lumberport, passed away Monday (Jan. 3,2005) at the United Hospital Center.

She was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Victor Whetsell, and Edna Reel Whetsell who survives in Fairmont.

Mrs. Hustead was a member of the Jewel City Non-Denominational Church and was an active member of the widows group.

Her greatest pleasures were spending time with her family and pets. She also enjoyed cheering on Jeff Gordon and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, James E. Hustead and wife Mary of Clarksburg, John M. Hustead and wife Janet, and Jerry Hustead and wife Cheryl, all of Lumberport; one daughter, Diana Hustead Smith and her husband Tim of Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Melissa Schmick, and James, Michael, Brian, and Erik Hustead; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Whetsell and wife Shirley of Oakdale, and Victor "Vic" Whetsell and wife Pam of Clarksburg; three sisters, Connie Straight and husband Donnie, Linda Warnick and husband Harley, and Kathleen Batson and husband Lee, all of Four States; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Hustead was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil W. Hustead; and two infant brothers.

Family and friends may call from 2-9 p.m. today at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street, Shinnston. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating. Interment will follow at the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery.
