Although the Houser Genealogy says that Nancy's name was Rhorer, it may be more commonly spelled as Rohrer. There are several Rohrer's named in the Washington County, Maryland census for 1790 and no Rhorer's. In Lancaster County Pennsylvania there are listed Jacob Rohrer, Christian Rorar and Isaac Rorar in a list of 591 persons who were paid for Forage furnished for the Magazine at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in 1778-1779. ----------------------------------------

Nancy Ann (Rhorer) Houser was the daughter of Johannes Samuel and Margaret Catherine (Henson) Rohrer, both born in Germany. She married Abraham Houser, and to this union were born:

The following descriptions are quoted from Genealogy of the Houser, Rhorer, Dillman, Hoover Families, compiled by Houser, WW., et. al, 1910, Bloomington, IL:
p. 7: "Nancy Rhorer… came with her parents from Germany. They were agriculturalist and stock raisers. When they landed in America they sought the productive and prosperous section in Maryland. Mrs. Rhorer was a large, strong woman but of a lovely face and form and was a noted singer in her day. She was a great lover of home and family associations and loved by all who knew her. Nancy Rhorer Houser died in Kentucky in 1813."
p. 45: "Our Great-grandfather, Abraham Houser, married Nancy Rhorer. Their home was in Washington county, Maryland. There their children, nine sons and three daughters, were born and married. About 1795 they all moved, together, to the new state of Kentucky, and settled in Jessamine county, near Nicholasville…. Great-grandmother (Nancy Rhorer Houser) died at their home and is buried in Houser Cemetery."
The Houser home place is mentioned as being "near the fork of the two Jessamine Creeks," where Abraham built a large stone mill. -------------------------------------------------------
