He was age 25 when he married Mina age 16 with her mother's consent by John F. Briggs, J.P. at his residence in Jerome Township, Midland, Michigan. The marriage was witnessed by Mrs. Cora D. Tigner Thornton (Mrs Charles) and Lizzie Perkins. They were married again on their 50th anniversary by Rev. J. C. Rarick, Church of the Brethren. He is interned in the Surry Cemetery in Farwell, Michigan.
