----------------------------------------

Most researchers seem to list his given name as "Jack" but the 1880 US Census record clearly shows it as "Richard". Perhaps "Jack" was a nickname or perhaps this Richard Fredwell (Fretwell) was a brother to Jack. What is unique is that this Richard was living on the Snyder farm where Elizabeth Lawson-Marple remarried to Harman Snyder. Both of her children from her previous marriage, son Alvin Marple and daughter Cinthia Marple, were also living there. Richard (or Jack) would later marry Cinthia Marple.
