• His obituary was published in the Jefferson City Post Tribune on 20 October 1930 in Jefferson City, MO.

Elias M. Edgell, 83, farmer and resident of community for the past nine years died at his home on Tanner Bridge Road this morning from an illness of several months Although he had not been confined to his bed he had not been very active all summer and gradually declined in health until the end about 6 o'clock this morning. Mr. Edgell came to Jefferson City from Barnard, Kansas in 1921 and bought a farm on Tanner Bridge Road. For a number of years he actively engaged in farming and then retired. He was born in Wayne County Ohio May 9, 1847 and lived there during his youth. July 15, 1883, he was married to Miss Isabelle Bowman and shortly thereafter the couple moved to Kansas settling on a farm near Barnard. Nine (sic, 10) children were born to this union all of whom survive. Mrs. Edgell preceded her husband in death eight years ago. (Son John Asa, born February 9, 1884 died February 9, 1887) The (surviving) children are Dan Edgell, Grace Edgell, and Gertrude Edgell at the family farm. Mark Edgell at Seminole, Oklahoma, Grant Edgell and Walter Edgell who reside near Barnard, Kansas, Elmer Edgell, ,McPherson, Kansas, Vernon Edgell, Studley, Kansas and Earl Edgell who is with the US Army now stationed in the Canal Zone. Funeral services are not definitely arranged pending word from relatives but they will probably be held from the Christian Church of which Mr. Edgell was a member The body will remain at the Dawson Parlors until definite arrangements are made.
