Although his gravestone indicates a birth year of 1882 and the 1900 US Census shows a birth date in May 1882, all other of Lewis's census records all seem to indicate a birth year of 1883. Maybe he forgot exactly which year he was born when he got older.

• His obituary was published in the Unknown newspaper in September 1964 in Carroll County, MO.

Lewis Elmer Pennington, 72, of Bosworth, died at 7:30 o'clock Friday morning at the home. He suffered a heart attack a short time earlier. He had been in poor health two years.

Born on a farm near Bosworth, May 4, 1882, Mr. Pennington was a son of George W. and Kiza (Benjamin) Pennington. He attended the former Brown school and lived most of his live in the Bosworth community. For many years he was a member of the Woodmen of the World lodge.

Mr. Pennington was married July 31, 1904, to the former Lucy Leola Lightfoot, who survives. There are these children: Mrs. Zelma Parks, Wakenda; Mrs. Maxine Isaacs, Sacramento, California; Gerald Pennington, Hamburg, Iowa; Gilbert Pennington, Excelsior Springs; Amos Pennington, Kansas City; Seth Pennington, Clifton Hill, and Eugene Pennington, Bosworth.

Mr. Pennington also leaves a sister, Mrs. Dollie Potter, Creawell, Ore. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Sela Parks, who died at the age of 18, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Bently.

Mr. Pennington was one of the more familiar figures in Bosworth, well known for his jovial disposition.

Funeral services were at 2:30 o'clock Sunday at the Leipard & Edwards chapel conducted by Rev. Ted Chrystle. Burial was in the Elizabeth cemetery.
