bullet  General Notes:

At least one other researcher provides a marriage between a "Lightfoot Barton Williams" (sometimes "Barton Lightfoot Williams") and Matilda May Hicks.

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY MARRIAGES 1821-1860
WILLIAMS, Lightfoot Barton; HICKS, Matilda; May 09, 1845

Submitter: Robin Howsden Subject: Williams/Rountree in Reform <http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/4300/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.pickens/316> Message: Seeking information on Barton Lightfoot Williams and his wife Matilda, daughters Elvira & Mary, and son James. Barton is found in the 1840 & 1850 Pickens Co. Census and the state 1855 census. He is rumored to be buried in the Reform area. Elvira married John E. Rountree and moved to Mississippi around 1842. Thank you for any assistance.

Is it possible that Lightfoot Williams could have been married three times? The first could have been to Unknown who gave birth to his son, Moses, in 1822. However, this would make Lightfoot only 15 years old at the time. Either Lightfoot's birth year was earlier or Moses' was later.

His second wife could have been to Mary Thomas in 1826. Supposedly they had Jesse, b. about 1835, and Mary, b. 1844. Supposedly found in Pickens County, Alabama in the 1840 and 1850 census. Perhaps moved to Mississippi in 1842.

His third wife could have been to Matilda Hicks back in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in 1845. It doesn't make sense that he went back into Alabama especially when he supposedly died in Louisiana in 1848. But if he is the one found in Pickens County, Alabama in 1840 and 1850 then it could be the same person. Obviously, he could not have died in 1848 in Louisiana so that data must be wrong or else it is at least two different persons. However, given that many of his brothers moved to DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, I would say it is entirely possible that he did die there in 1848. In which case, that means the Lightfoot Williams found in the 1850 census back in Pickens County, Alabama would have to be a different person.
