PHILIPPI, WV - Thomas G. Fast, age 79, of Route 3, Philippi, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Grafton, WV, he was the son of the late Russell and Rosalie (Duff) Fast. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl Maxine (Layton) Fast and now they are together again. Mr. Fast was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Fast. Surviving family are a daughter, Pamela J. (Fast) Lindberg and husband, James Lindberg, of Ashtabula, Ohio; two sons, Thomas M. Fast and wife, Debra (Tupy) Fast, of Wooster, Ohio, and Robert L. Fast and fiancee, Debbie Harden, of Jefferson, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ralph M. Weber Jr. of Philippi, WV, Cameron T. Fast of Wooster, Ohio, Angalica R. (Hedrich) Gladney of Columbus, Mont., Emelia I. Lindberg of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Kaitlyn E. Fast of Wooster, Ohio; two great-grandsons, Ralph Weber and Kolton Gladney; and two sisters, Violet (Fast) Trischan of Woodland Park, CO., and Dollie (Fast) Kielian of Sliver Creek, Neb.Mr. Fast was retired from the General Motors Company in 1985 with over 35 years of service. He was a 32nd degree mason and a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1948. Mr. Fast served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War stationed at Camp Pope La. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and helping his neighbors.The family will receive friends at the DONALD G. FORD FUNERAL HOME in Grafton on Thursday evening, May 29, 2008, from the hours of 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, May 30, from 9 to 10 AM. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Virginia National Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites to be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081 of Grafton, The American Legion Taylor County Post #12 and The D.A.V. Chapter #24 of Grafton and Aux.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Taylor County Hospice Care Corp., 7 Harman Center, Suite #203, Grafton, W.
