  General Notes:

"Herman Otho, who was born December 9, 1877, near Little Falls. From early childhood he loved books and the reading of them which was often practiced in turn on a good story around the family hearthstone in the lewd log house on the farm at Harold. After completing the eighth grade of public schools he attended "Summer Normals", passed the teacher's examination for certification, and began teaching in 1898. He taught for ten years, then after working his way through the Normal Department of Marshall College at Huntington, West Virginia, he taught in the high schools of Taylor County. In 1918 during the World War he was employed in the office of the Thomas Shoe Company, Charleston, West Virginia, where he remained until the company closed business May 1, 1929. He is now employed in the office of E. O. Royal Inc., Charleston. After being graduated from Marshall College he continued his education at the University during summer terms, completing three years of college work. He was married August 25, 1909, to Anna Olive Fox who was a teacher in the public schools. She was the daughter of Camden and Caroline Fox of Glendon, Braxton County. Herman Otha Fast and his wife are prominent workers in the Humphreys Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South where he has been for several years the superintendent of the Sunday School."

¹¹ Herman Otho Fast, 93 of Gallipolis, formerly of Charleston, W. Va., died Sunday in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.

He was a former Kanawha County, W. Va., teacher and bookkeeper. Mr. Fast had lived in Gallipolis since 1966. He was a member of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church, Kanawha Council of United Commercial Travelers and Kanawha County Senior Citizens.

Surviving: wife, Anna; daughters, Mrs. Jack F. Knight and Mrs. Roy C. Pollock, both of Gallipolis; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The body is at Wilson Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m. today in Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Fisher and the Rev. William Albright officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Fast, 93, of Gallipolis, Ohio, formerly of Charleston, died Sunday in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. The body is at Wilson Funeral Home.
