  General Notes:

The birth records for Ellen and her sister Jenny are confusing. There is one citation for Ellen which gives her birth date was 11 Sep 1860 while another gives it as 11 Nov 1860. Both citations only give the name as "E. A. Kisner" but each shows Archibald and Angelina Kisner as the parents.

The problem with either citation is that there is also a birth record for Jenny C. Kisner dated about 1 month earlier on 20 Aug 1860 and also in Marion County. That record also shows Archibald and Angelina Kisner as the parents.

Obviously there is a fault with the birth records from Marion County, Virginia but it is not know which daughter has the faulty record. The 1870 US Census may seem to help in that it shows Ellen with an age of 8 which would suggest her true birth date was in 1862 instead of 1860. However, there are other census records for another sister, Mary, which suggest that Mary's birth year was in 1862 or possibly 1863. But even the 1863 date runs into another conflict with yet another sister, Nancy Susan, who was born on 22 Mar 1863 in Marion County.

Prior to her 1897 marriage to Perry Ingram, Ellen was married to a Merrill. Her surname on the marriage license with Perry Ingram shows as Merrill.

Ellen married Perry Ingram, son of Andrew Ingram and Nancy Sears, on 10 November 1897 in Vigo County, IN.¹ The marriage ended in divorce. (Perry Ingram was born in 1843 in Edgar County, IL and died on an unknown date.)

  Marriage Notes:

Perry's wife Mary C passed in 1895. The marriage record for Ellen Kisner and Perry lists her parents as Archibald and Angeline. The 1880 census for Archibald and Angeline show Mary as their 17 year old daughter which age does not agree with the age listed on the marriage record, even so, from Perry's perspective it is not important because the 1900 census shows Perry as divorced so the marriage was short lived.
