• Her obituary was published in the Ashland Press on 8 October 1902 in Ashland, OH.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Fast, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dell Baldwin, near Greenwich, on Wednesday, Oct. 1st, were held here at the U. B. Church on Friday at one o'clock. Rev. J. E. Hawes, pastor of the Baptist Church at Greenwich, officiated at the services. He was assisted by Rev. L. B. Dear of the local church. Just before the close of the ceremonies Rev. Hawes sang "My Mother's Way," proving himself to be a talented singer and moving many of the congregation to tears from recollections of the past.

The remains were interred in the Nova cemetery beside her husband.

A daughter from Michigan was unable to be present.

Nancy J. Pumpus (sic) was born January 21, 1824, near Mansfield, Richland Co., O. She was married to Geo. Beattie in 1848. Mr. Beattie lived but a short time.

To this union was born one daughter, Emmeline, now Mrs. Schuyler Weeks, of Michigan.

She was married to Martin M. Fast, June 1, 1854.

Mr. Fast died June 5, 1881.

This union resulted in the birth of one daughter, Viola, wife of D. W. Baldwin.

Mother Fast was aged 78 years, 8 months and 10 days.

At the age of 17 she was left with the care of seven brothers and sisters of whom she was the oldest.

She joined the Baptist Church at Savannah at an early age but after marrying Mr. Fast she joined the UB Church at this place.

They lived on what is now the R. W. Krebs farm for many years. At the time of her death she was a member of the Baptist Church at New London, but on account of physical infirmities she was unable to attend services.

Patient in tribulation she always remained a consistent Christian. She leaves two daughters, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, besides the children of Mr. Fast, Mrs. A.D. Stahl, Mrs. Melissa Strickland and David Jackson and Washington Fast, who regarded her as a mother. The friends from a distance partook of refreshments at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Stahl after the services.
