⁴ Mrs. Lightfoot is Laid to Rest

The funeral services for Mrs. Samuel Lightfoot, who died at the Wadsworth hospital at 12:15 PM on Monday of this week, were held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon from the home of her brother, J. E. Kraft, 1405 West Market Street, conducted by Rev. A. L. Sherry. A large company of friends and girlhood acquaintances of Mrs. Lightfoot were present to pay their tribute of respect to her and her family. The many beautiful floral pieces bore testimony of the high esteem in which this former Orrville woman was held.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Scherry: Malinda May, the youngest child of Henry Kraft and Susan (nee Bauman) was born in Orrville, Ohio, October 20, 1881. She attended the local schools and the Reformed Sunday School. During her girlhood years she united with the Reformed church by confirmation. On October 14, 1904, she was united in marriage to Samuel Lightfoot, the ceremony being performed by Rev. J. W. Belser. After their marriage the family resided for several years in Orrville, going from here to Akron and then to Barberton. In September 1927, they removed to Wadsworth, where they have since resided.

Soon after her marriage she transferred her church membership to the Lutheran church, and while residing at Barberton, she with her family united with the Barberton Church of Christ, of which she was a member until the summons came to enter into eternal rest.

Mrs. Lightfoot had been in failing health for about two years; she submitted to a surgical operation in August, 1928, which revealed a cancerous affliction which finally resulted in death on Monday, March 4, 1929 at 12: 15 PM, she having attained the age of 47 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Of the five children born to her, the first born, a son, preceded his mother in death. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and one son; Mrs. Harold Truex, of Barberton, Thelma, Martha, and Howard, at home; one granddaughter, one sister, Mrs. Lucy Carghill, of Warren; and four brothers, J. E. Kraft, C. F. Kraft, and Frank Kraft, of Orrville; and John Kraft, of Lakewood, and a very large circle of other near relatives and friends.

Interment was made in Crown Hill Cemetery.
