This birth date appears on his grave stone. His census records as a young adult point to a birth year of about 1829. Only his 1900 census record when he was about 72 years old actually supports a birth date of Nov 1827. I suspect that when his age had advanced he forgot the exact year of his birth and the ages and suggested birth years of the earlier census are more accurate.
