1. Cemetery: Vinson Cemetery, After 21 February 1884, Vinson, Umatilla, Oregon, United States. ¹ I'm surprised that Bruce Andrews, the submitter of info to World Family Tree Vol. 02, Ed. 1, Tree #5733, somehow knows this son's name to be "Joseph, born on November 30, 1883". The gravestone marker is an off-white colored sandstone tablet that reads "Infant Son of J. & L. Nelson, Died Feb. 21, 1884, Aged 2 Ms., 21 Ds.". The gravestone does not indicate his name nor does it indicate a birth date. It may be easy to calculate the birth date but how or where did he come up with a name? Sometimes stillborn babies were not named so when this infant lived to almost 3 months, I supposed the parents had decided on a name by that time.
