4 Emmett John Dye, 84, a heavy-equipment operator for Rocky Mountain Paving before his retirement, died February 21, 1994, at a Canon City nursing home.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3825 Airport Road, with the Rev. Warren Scandrett officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Pikes Peak Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road.

Mr. Dye was born May 6, 1909, in Sargent, Nebraska, to John Reason and Sarah Margaret (Hendrickson) Dye.

He was married to Elizabeth Eva (Stover) Dye, who survives.

He is also survived by a brother, Carl Dye, of Basin, Wyoming; two sons, Dale Dye of Shoshoni, Wyoming, and Richard Dye of Casper, Wyoming; two daughters, Delores Norvell of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Ida May Nicholl of Englewood; a stepson, Lester Dunkin of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl N. Dye.

Mr. Dye had been a Colorado resident since 1933.
