bullet  General Notes:

Following the death of her first husband, George Stover, in 1928, Hazel was supposedly remarried in 1930 to Richard Engle. At least one researcher indicates that she never actually was married to Richard Engle, but they lived together as partners. This may have only been a partnership and not a marriage because her gravestone indicates only the name Stover from her first husband.

Then there is a Marriage Record Report #A-229 from the State of Colorado, Division of Vital Statistics showing a marriage between Henry G. Abel, age 46, and Hazel G. Stover, age 41. The marriage took place on 25 July 1932 in Colorado Springs, Pueblo County, Colorado. Whether this was the same as Hazel G. Garberson is a matter of debate.

"Colorado Statewide Marriage Index, 1853-2006," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KN35-G2Q : accessed 07 Dec 2013), Henry G Abel and Hazel G Stover, 1932.

The 1940 US Census does show Hazel living with Richard Engle in Colorado Springs. Note that this was about 8 years after the above mentioned marriage to Henry Abel. Hazel's status on the 1940 census was "widowed" but it is unknown if that meant that she were widowed from her first husband (George Storver) or perhaps widowed from her second husband (Henry G. Abel).

Equally puzzling was the 1940 census status of Richard Engle who was listed as a "brother-in-law" to Hazel. That would infer that she was married to someone else named Engle and that Richard was that person's brother. I suspect that the term brother-in-law was just a convenient and polite means of stipulating their living arrangement at the time without benefit of marriage.
