James Sloan Bowman ^{1 2}

   Another name for James was Walter Sloan Bowman.³

  General Notes:

His name inexplicably appears as "Walter S. Bowman" instead of "James" on the 1860 census. I don't know how or why the name James was applied. Did they merely change his name? On the 1870 census, he used only his middle name "Sloan".
