A record of William's and Hannah's application for a marriage license can be found in Van Wert County Probate Record #107. The application is dated 8/2/1872. Ephraim, William's father, signed the application indicating his approval with an "X". Ephraim apparently was illiterate. William died 6 Jun 1882 in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, and was buried in Greenbrier Cemetery, Willshire Township, Van Wert County, Ohio.
