Olis Hathaway, 80, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, Mar. 15, 1995, at Knox Community Hospital, Mt. Vernon, after an extended illness.

He was born in Grantsville, a son of Sida and Matilda Summers Hathaway. He had been a Mt. Vernon resident since 1959 and retired in 1980 from Weyerhaeuser Co., Mt. Vernon, after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, where he was a member of Altiora Sunday School Class. He was a member of Harvest Years Club and Union Local 535 at Weyerhaeuser.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth Fogle Hathaway; two daughters, Helen L. Parrott of Porter, Tex., and Ruth Ann Owens of Parkersburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Homer Hathaway of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Services were held at Snyder Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Neal Loch officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
