Greta Churl Scott, 86, of Big Springs, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Calhoun, a daughter of the late Curtis and Hattie Bennett Hathaway.

She was a retired elementary school teacher having taught in Calhoun, Ritchie and Wood counties, and Hawaii. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and Retired Teachers Association in Calhoun County. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville.

Surviving are a son-in-law, Thomas G. Williams; two grandchildren, Scott and Whitney Williams; one sister, Pearl VanHorn of Big Springs; one half-sister, Dixie Gregg of Warwick, Ohio; two half-brothers, Charles C. Hathaway of Weston and Darrell Hathaway of Mineral Wells.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Scott; and one daughter, Brenda Sue Williams. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
