• His obituary was published in the Winona Republican Herald on 23 May 1912 in Winona, MN.

Louis Spier of Trempealeau died at 4:15 this morning at the Winona General Hospital. He was a brother-in-law of H. Verkins of this city and had been ill for four months from pneumonia. He was recovering nicely when two weeks ago he suffered a relapse and was brought to the hospital here, since which time he has been slowly sinking. He is survived by a wife and two daughters, Ada of Winona and Lydia of Chicago. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at Trempealeau.

Louis next married Eda Otillie Kramer, daughter of Christian Friedrich Kramer III and Louisa Emilie Possin, on 29 August 1888 in Trempealeau, WI.2 3 4 (Eda Otillie Kramer was born on 5 July 1867 in Lewiston, MN,3 4 7 8 10 11 12 13 14 died on 18 August 1929 in Winona, MN 10 11 14 and was buried on 20 August 1929 in Winona, MN 14.). The cause of her death was Leucaemia Lymphatica with sudden heart failure per death record.1
