bullet  General Notes:

Although his parents spelled the surname as Buchholtz (with a "t'), Carl seemed to use the spelling without the "t", i.e. Buchholz. Occasionally, the surname appears as Buckholz (with a "k").

Carl was apparently married sometime between 1900 and 1910. The 1910 Census shows him living back home with his mother and his marital status was noted as widowed. The 1920 Census also shows him as widowed. No record of this marriage has yet been found.

There is a 1905 Wisconsin State Census record that shows a Carl Buchholz born abt. 1876 living with a wife named Amelia in Janesville. They have a 5 year old son named William. This Carl's occupation was a blacksmith. While it may seem tempting to think that this was the correct person, this was NOT Carl Alexander Buchholz because this Carl appears once again with his wife, Amelia, and son, William/Willie in the 1910 Census whereas Carl Alexander Buchhold was living with his mother during the 1910 Census. Therefore, they are two different people, both with the same name, both born at about the same time, and both living in Janesville, WI.

The 1930 census shows Carl married to Hazel A. <?> and no record of that marriage has yet been found either.
