On the 1900 census, Marthe indicated that she had one child that had died by that time and it appears his name many have been John Bertinius Egeland. I can find no source citations for his birth or his death and only the info provided by researcher Robert C. Westphal gives the name. The birth date of John is nearly identical with that of Julius so it may be possible that they were twin boys. I think he may have died as an infant because two years later, the next son born was named John Lawrence Egeland and it seems unlikely that the parents would have two living sons both named John.
