Richard S. Arbenger, QM.2-C, is enjoying a short leave with his parents, City Clerk and Mrs. Walter J. Arbenger of 4 West Court Street. Miss Jane Hartman of Buffalo is also a guest at the Arbenger home. Quartermaster Arbenger, serving with the U.S. Coast Guard, recently returned from the South Pacific, where he participated in nine invasions. He wears three campaign stars to his service ribbons, three commendations and the Presidential Unit Citation.

EX-ALDERMAN ARBENGER DIES
PLATTSBURGH - Richard S. Arbenger, 57, of 5 Sanborn Ave., died Saturday at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 18, 1921, the son of Walter J. and Madeline (Zoll) Arbenger. He was a test desk technician with the New York Telephone Company where he worked for more than 32 years. He served with the United States Coast Guard in the Pacific theatre during World War II. He was an alderman in the city of Plattsburgh in 1954.

Survivors include his wife, the former Ruby Trombly; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Rath of Port Jefferson Station, L. I., Lynn Arbenger of Burlington, NJ and Susan Arbenger of Plattsburgh; his mother, Mrs. Madeline Arbenger of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Mrs. Doris O'Connell and Mrs. Wayne (Joan) Ashline, both of Plattsburgh, and one granddaughter.

Calling hours at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
