⁵ Marion Township Woman succumbs to pneumonia

Mrs. J. F. Sleegle (sic) dies after very short illness - survived by 4 children

Mrs. J. F. Sleegle (sic) of Marion Township died at her home Sunday evening after a very short illness of pneumonia. She is survived by her husband & 4 children: Jordan aged 9, Gladys Mary aged 6, Earl Louis aged 2 & a 7 day old baby who will be called Marie.

Mrs. Sleegle was twenty eight years of age having been born July 17, 1881 (sic).

She is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. John Crist, Mrs. Albert Bird & Miss Lilly Lightfoot all residing in this county. Before her marriage Mrs. Sleegl's name was Miss Inez Neoma Lightfoot.

The funeral will be held from the Davis church on the Tiffin Road. Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, with Rev. R. S. Bowers of the First Lutheran Church officiating. Internment will be made in the Maple Grove cemetery.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage record from Hancock County indicates that the father of Inez Lightfoot was Henry Lightfoot instead of Charles William Lightfoot. The name of her mother was correctly given as Jemima G. Crozier. I believe that this is merely an error in the original marriage register or license because at the time of the marriage, her father, Charles Lightfoot, was already dead and perhaps it was her grandfather, Henry Lightfoot, who was present.
