• His obituary was published in the Unknown newspaper on 30 January 1929 in Webster, SD.

Funeral services were held here Saturday, January 26 for S. H. Egeland who died last Wednesday at St. Paul following a long illness. Mr. Egeland was born in Webster and made his home here until 1922 when he moved to Aberdeen where he accepted a position in the internal revenue office and which position he held until the time of his death.

The funeral services were held at 2:20 at the Masonic temple with V. V. Van Osdal of Aberdeen taking charge of the ceremonies assisted by Rev. T. E. Hall of Webster. A large delegation of Masons from Webster and out of town were present. Services were also held at St. John's Lutheran church with Rev. A. Elmer Moe of Aberdeen officiating assisted by Rev. John Kildahl. Interment was made at the Webster cemetery.

The passing of Sig Egeland is greatly felt by his many friends in Webster and Day county where he was born and raised. While he lived here he was active in civic affairs and held a county office at one time. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Martha Christine; his mother, Mrs. Martha Egeland of this city, three sisters and three brothers.

Among those who were present at the funeral from Aberdeen were: Leslie Jensen, W. P. Buck, Harold Garwood, Clarence Samdahl, S. H. Davis, Russell Hallett, O. M. Tiffany, R. I. Hill, W. H. Bird, F. C. Dreller, Frank Swanson, Clarence Lynch, J. L. Parrant, Fred A. Reidel, Sr., N. I. Wendell, V. V. Van Osdal, E. A. Erken and R. S. Wallace.
