Lois was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Iowa, attending Iowa State University first and later Coe College from which she graduated. She worked as a social worker in Cedar Rapids and Newton, Iowa, and later in Tacoma, Washington where she moved in 1937. She later moved to Monte Bella, California and was employed by the Los Angeles County Social Services until her retirement. She organized a senior citizens group there. No children.
In 1960 she moved to Hillcrest Homes and lived at both the East and West Hillcrest buildings. In 1961 she was concerned about the lack of a senior citizens organization in LaVerne and was the founder of such a group. She was the first President of the Senior Citizens Club. She was honored as the LaVerne Citizen of the year by the Chamber of Commerce in 1975. As the years went by, her health failed and she began to limit her activities with community groups. ----------------------------------------
