¹¹ George McLaughlin, about 80, and formerly of this area, died Thursday at his home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services were today at the Barta-Hesser Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.

Born about 1885 in Liberty Township, he was the son of James R. and Levica Stover McLaughlin. He attended Iowa City High School and the University of Iowa.

Mr. McLaughlin's first wife preceded him in death. He then married Eva Sherman of near Manchester who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, one brother, James, of Amarillo, Tex., and a sister, Mrs. Clyde Randolph of Pomona, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Jennie died due to complications after giving birth to their first daughter in 1921. The daughter was sent to be raised by Jennie's parents who lived nearby in Cedar Rapids, IA. By 1930 George was still living alone and his daughter was still being raised by her grandparents.
