Donald O. Van Horn, 71, of Spencer, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Roane General Hospital.

He was born in Calhoun, the son of Pearl Hathaway Van Horn of Big Springs and the late Leavy O. Van Horn. He was a general supervisor for Roane County Board of Education and was previously a teacher and principal with over 36 years of service. He was a member of Moriah Lodge #38, AF&AM, Spencer, and Spencer Baptist Temple, and was a graduate of Glenville State College and West Virginia University.

Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Bartlett Van Horn; one son, Steven Van Horn of Morgantown; one brother, Earl T. Van Horn of Saint Louis, Mo.; and one granddaughter, Olivia Michelle Van Horn. Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 PM, at Spencer Baptist Temple, with Rev. Kevin Randolph and Rev. Garry Bowen officiating, and burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Mountaineer Athletic Club, P.O. Box 0877, Morgantown, WV 26507, or Spencer Baptist Temple, Clay Rt., Box 8, Spencer, WV 25276.
