Her given name of Mannie comes from the handwritten marriage record in Dewey County, Oklahoma Territory and it is difficult to discern the exact spelling. It appears to be "Minnie" and that fact holds true for the subsequent census records.. Her surname most definitely was written as "Like" and not Likes, or even Lake.

The marriage license shows her birth date at 1884 but the 1900 census shows it as Jan 1885. This means that she was actually 14 years old when she was married. She gave birth to a son nine months later.

Most of the death records for her children shown their mother's name spelled as "Likes".
