NOTE - Different transcriptions of the old and very difficult to read marriage records show the brides's name as Iffaru P. Brown or Marie Brown. It is believed that the proper transcription of her given name is most likely Issaru but appears to be written as Iffaru. According to one researcher, her true given name was Issaw, which is a tribal name of the Catawba. She was Catawba, Saponi, and African slave mix.
