bullet  General Notes:

Three brothers, Daniel, John, and Isaac Lightfoot moved from Wayne County, Ohio to northern Indiana. But this move was not done all at the same time but rather according to the following schedule.

Daniel moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1850.

John moved to Porter County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1842.

Isaac moved to La Porte County, Indiana sometime between 1844 and 1846.
--------------------------------------------

Moving to Indiana with Daniel and his wife were his 4 youngest children, John, Jane, Edward, and Levi. His son Isaac probably also went with his father but records of his exact age and location in Indiana have yet to be discovered. That leaves only his oldest son, Henry, and oldest daughter, Rebecca, who may have stayed behind in Ohio.

His son Henry is known to have first lived in Wabash County and then Kosciusko County, Indiana but moved back to Hancock County, Ohio where he was married in 1851 and remained there for the rest of his life.

His daughter, Rebecca, was married in 1844 in Ohio where she remained until about 1854 when she and her husband moved to LaPorte County, Indiana. By 1860 they had moved into Michigan for a brief period only to return to LaPorte County and eventually Saint Joseph County, Indiana.

By 1860, Daniel's wife, Anna, had died, and he had moved in with his married son, Henry, who was living in Hancock County in the NW part of Ohio. All of his children, except for Henry, remained in Indiana.

NOTE - Different transcriptions of the old and very difficult to read marriage records show the brides's name as Iffaru P. Brown or Marie Brown. It is believed that the proper transcription of her given name is most likely Issaru but appears to be written as Iffaru. According to one researcher, her true given name was Issaw, which is a tribal name of the Catawba. She was Catawba, Saponi, and African slave mix.
