NOTE - If her birth date was in 1768, then her age would have been 61 or 62. She should not have been in the 50-60 years category.

2 Males under 10..(probably John, 10; unknown)
1 Male 10-15..(probably Daniel, 14)
1 Male 26-44..John..Head..(37)

3 Females under 10..(probably Ruth, infant; Delia, infant; possibly Mary, age between infant and 5)
1 Female 26-44..(probably Alice, 42)

8 Total in household

NOTE - Possibly missing enumeration are Elizabeth, 17 and Susannah, 11.

• They appeared on the 1820 US Census in Washington Township, Wayne County, OH on Aug 1820. 10

1 Male under 10..(probably Isaac, 7)
2 Males 16-26..(probably Daniel, 24; John, Jr., 20)
1 Male 45+: 1 - John Litefoot..Head..(age 47)

2 Females under 10..(probably Delilia, 9; unknown)
2 Females 10-15..(probably Ruth, 10; Mary, 15 to infant)
1 Female 16-25..(probably Susannah, 21)
1 Female 45+..(probably Alice, 52)

10 Total in houshold

3 engaged in agriculture (probably John Sr, Daniel, and John Jr)

NOTE - The "unknown" female may or may not be a Lightfoot daughter depending upon if any of John's daughters were married and living at home. Only the daughter Elizabeth is known to have been married by 1820 and she was probably enumerated as living with her husband.

• They appeared on the 1830 US Census in Clinton Township, Wayne, OH on Jun 1830. 11

1830 US Census
Page 28, Roll 142
Clinton Township, Wayne, Ohio, United States

1 Males 15-20..(probably Isaac Lightfoot, 17)
1 Males 40-50..John Lightfoot..Head..(age 57)

1 Female under 5..(unknown)
1 Female 15-20..(probably Ruth Lightfoot, 20; all other daughters were already married)
1 Female 50-60..(probably Alice Lightfoot, 62)

5 Total in household

NOTE - If may be possible that John Lightfoot Sr could have died by this enumeration because of the age of the oldest male shown in the household. John Sr's age would have been 57 but the oldest male was shown as between 40-50. Then the John Lightfoot in this enumeration could have been John Jr except his age was only 30 at the time. Therefore neither John Sr or John Jr fit into the given age category. It would be so convenient to assume that it was actually John Jr because he is not found in any other enumeration with his wife and this could account for the unknown young female that was shown as under 5 who might have been a daughter to John Jr. John Jr's wife would have been 28 and there were no females in that age category, therefore this John Lightfoot was probably John Lightfoot Sr but with the wrong age caterogy of 40-50 instead of what should have been age 50-60.

• They appeared on the 1840 US Census in Lake Township, Wayne County, OH on Jun 1840. 12

1840 US Census
Page 2, Roll 432
Lake Township, Wayne, Ohio, United States

1 Male 20-30..(probably Isaac, 27)
1 Male 50-60..(unknown)
1 Male 60-70..John Lightfoot..Head..(age 67)

1 Female 10-15..(unknown)
1 Female 60-70..(probably Alice, 72, should have been in the 70-80 category)

5 total in household

NOTE - This could be the wrong John Lightfoot because of the wrong age for Alice (but typically reported younger than actual age for women), the unknown elderly male age 50-60, and the unknown female age 10-15 although this could still be the unknown young female reported on the 1830 and 1820 US Census. On the plus side, Lake Township was in the same general vicinity as Clinton Township reported on the 1830 US Census and Washington Township reported on the 1820 US Census.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

E-mail from Keith A. Dull:
Both John and Alice were residing in Baltimore, Maryland in 1810. John moved to Wayne County, Ohio in 1810-1820, and is responsible for the Lightfoots there prior to 1835. John's sons Daniel, Isaac, and John, Jr. all moved to northern Indiana. John's widow, Alice, was still living with her daughter, Susanna in 1850.

NOTE: The move of John and his family to Wayne County, Ohio had to occur after 1813 because his son Isaac was born in Maryland in 1813. The move of Isaac to northern Indiana did not occur until bet. 1844-1846. (Brian L. Lightfoot)

There were six other Lightfoot children not listed on the 1830 census record:
...Elizabeth age 27, was married in 1820
...Daniel age 34, was married in 1825
...Susanna age 32 must have been married or lived separately
...John, Jr. age 30, was married in 1821
...Mary age bet. 11-25, must have been married or lived separately which means her age was more closely bet. 18-25
...Delilah age bet. 11-25, must have been married or lived separately which means her age was more closely bet. 18-25
