Three brothers, Daniel, John, and Isaac Lightfoot moved from Wayne County, Ohio to northern Indiana. But this move was not done all at the same time but rather according to the following schedule.
Daniel moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1850.
John moved to Porter County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1842.
Isaac moved to La Porte County, Indiana sometime between 1844 and 1846.

John was married in Ohio in 1821 and all of his children were born in Ohio except for his youngest, Leander who was born in Indiana in 1842. His youngest daughter, Julia was born in Ohio in 1840 so John and wife moved from Ohio to Porter County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1842. He was remarried there in 1847 and spent the rest of his life there until he died in 1878.

Died, at the residence of his son, John Lightfoot, John Lightfoot, senior, in the 80th year of his age. Mr. Lightfoot has been a resident of the county for nearly 40 years. His funeral was attended by a large concourse of friends.
NOTE - The article does not give the date of death and infers that the funeral has already happened. Therefore, the date of death is probably at least 5-10 days prior to the publication date of 17 October 1878.

The "Porter County Death Index, 1884-1927" database at http://www.rootsweb.com/~innwigs/index.html lists the mother of John Lightfoot, Jr. as "Mary Griffy, born in Ohio" instead of the expected "Mary Shreve, born in Pennsylvania". I don't know if this is just a transcription error in the records of if John didn't really know the maiden name of his mother who died when he was about 10 years old. His father remarried to Atha Ann Walters also from Pennsylvania.
