• He was buried after 13 March 1895 in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery in Dykes, MO.

Isaac and his wife, Lydia, share one common gravestone in Hickory Ridge Cemetery which is a short vaulted top column of white and gray streaked marble that sits atop a small concrete base. The inscription on his side reads "Isaac D. Lightfoot, Born July 25, 1813, Died Mar. 13, 1895, Aged 82y 7m 23d". The monument engraver miscalculated the age because given those dates, his age should have been 81 years, 7 months, 16 days.

They maintained residences in:
Wayne County, Ohio (1834-1842)
Kosciusko County, Indiana (1848-1850)
La Porte County, Indiana (1846-1860)
Carroll County, Missouri (1870-1880)
Texas County, Missouri (1895)
----------------------------------------

The question of why Isaac moved his family from Indiana to Carroll County, Missouri might have something to do with his niece, Mary Ann Lightfoot and her husband, Ira Jett Dye.

Mary Ann lived in neighboring Porter County, Indiana right next to La Porte County so perhaps they frequently visited each other's families. One of Mary Ann's children, Delos Dye, is known to be buried in Carroll County Missouri where he had met and married his wife who was born in Carroll County. So the question arises if Mary Ann and husband, Ira Dye, ever moved to Carroll County at some point in time. Their exact burial locations are not known.

Her son, Delos Dye, may have moved there all by himself, but it seems more than coincidence that he ended up in the same location as his granduncle Isaac D. Lightfoot. Isaac didn't move to Carroll County until some time after 1864 and Delos Dye wasn't born until 1863. There must be a close family tie there somehow.

In March 2013, the great-great-grandson of Isaac D. Lightfoot, Richard D. Lightfoot who lives in Plymouth, Indiana, said that Isaac's son, Martin, had a girlfriend and he decided to stay in LaPorte, Indiana while the rest of the family moved to northern Missouri. And that is why there are many Lightfoots in northern Indiana today.

However, Martin alone was not responsible for the Lightfoots in northern Indiana. It was because of the 3 brothers, Daniel, John, and Martin's father, Isaac Lightfoot, who all had moved from Wayne County, Ohio to northern Indiana.

Daniel moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1850.

John moved to Porter County, Indiana sometime between 1840 and 1842.

Isaac moved to La Porte County, Indiana sometime between 1844 and 1846.
