bullet  General Notes:

Daniel Lightfoot b. 1796 was my g-g-g-grandfather. His daughter Jane was married to John Cook and they had a son John Vernon, born in Wabash County, Indiana in September 1851. The family moved to Cass County, Michigan about 1854. I found Jane with her birth family in both the 1840 and 1850 census reports and with John Cook and their family in 1860. Currently I am going through family photos and memorabilia left to me by my parents and grandparents. Trying to link appropriate photos and certificates to my genealogy files. I know that I have photos of Daniel's grandson John V. and Sarah Cook with their adult children (taken prior to 1920).

Thanks for posting this information. If you would like more information on Jane's family I would be glad to share what I have.

Sincerely,
Elaine Griffen

Went by the name Jane but some records show it as Mary. Her full given name was probably Mary Jane.

Mary married John Cook about 1850. (John Cook was born in 1825 in Ohio 1 3 and died after 1862.)

NOTE - The children are not listed in birth order. Rather than to indicate that there was a different spouse, it appears that this was an enumerator error. Researcher Elaine Griffen indicates other documents show that John Cook, Jr. was the first child of John and Mary Jane Cook.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

Their first child, John Vernon Cook, was born in Sep 1851 in Wabash, Indiana and the family moved to Cass County, Michigan when he was 2 years old. The records I was able to find indicate the family lived near what is now North Manchester near the Wabash/Kosciusko county line.

Neither John nor Mary Jane Cook are found in the 1870 or 1880 census. Their children are either married or working on somebody's farm for the 1870 census.
