John's name appears on the large HOBLIT family pedestal monument that was erected by the family. It shows his name below the names of his parents and under the heading of "Their Children" and reads "John A., 1911 - 1959". His original gravestone is a cubic flat top marker of gray granite approximately 24" wide and 12" tall. The inscription reads "John A. Hoblit, 1911 - 1959".

³ LIGHTNING KILLS ATLANTA FARMER

ATLANTA, Ill. (AP)'97J. Alex Hoblit, 48-year-year-old member of a pioneer central Illinois farm family, was killed by lightning Thursday in a field of his farm.

Hoblit was struck from the seat of a tractor while he was operating a sprayer. He was pronounced dead at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Hoblit was an owner of the Hoblit Feed Company, and a director of the Atlanta National Bank. His widow, brothers Franklin and Joseph, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Wertheim, all of Atlanta, survive him.
