Hill Smith, 84, of Elba, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio.
He was born in Gilmer, a son of the late Floyd and Emma Moore Smith. He lived at Grantsville before moving to Elba in 1950. He was a farmer, worked in timber and operated a sawmill in Grantsville and Elba. He was employed at Clevite Corp., Caldwell, until his retirement.
Surviving are two sons, David Smith of Elba and Gerald Smith of Macksburg; three daughters, Helen Stack of Elba, Jo Ann Cunningham of Marietta and Phyllis Mincks of Lowell; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clair Gainer, one son, Herman Smith; five brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.
Services were scheduled Wednesday,1 p.m., at McClure-Schafer Funeral Home, with Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating, and burial in Macksburg Cemetery.
