³ Robert N. Holmes, 72, of Topeka died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in his home. Born March 18, 1930, in Rockford, son of Frank R. and Josephine A. (Fanning) Holmes. Worked as insurance agent for 23 years. Served in the U.S. Air Force as sergeant from 1950 to 1954. Member in Legion Post 1 and St. Matthew Catholic Church. Married Betty Dolezilek on May 15, 1954, in Assumption Catholic Church, Topeka. Survived by wife, Betty sons, Robert N. Holmes Jr., Doug Holmes, Scott Holmes, all of Topeka, and Rick Holmes of Kansas City, Mo. daughter, Shelly Holmes of Topeka, sisters, Alberta Hall of Henderson, NV., Patsy Renton of Rockford, Winnebago, IL, and Lois Swanson of Winnebago, IL and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial in Mount Calvary Cem, with military honors by Fort Riley. Mr. Holmes will lie in state from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the church, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, Shawnee, KS 66604 or the American Diabetes Association, 3625 SW 29th St., Topeka KS 66614. Arrangements were completed by Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 W. Sixth St.
