NOTE - This record provides his birth location as "Marshall, Ill" but it is unclear if this is the city of Marshall located in Clark County about 250 miles to the south or Marshall County, Illinois which is about 100 miles to the south. I could find no references to the name Marshall within Winnebago County which is where the family spent most of their time. One researcher provides the birth location as Marshall County, Minnesota but that is nearly 700 miles to the north and it is doubtful that the family ever lived there.
