⁵ Calvin P. Shafer, 64, well-known building contractor of Middletown, died at his home Monday. He was the son of the late Theodore C. and Effie Castle Shafer, and was a member of the Reformed Church of Middletown.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lora Beachley Shafer; three daughters, Mrs. James Main, Mrs. Grayson Bidle and Mrs. Larry Coblentz, all of Middletown; two sons, Calvin P. Shafer Jr. and Merhle D. Shafer, both of Middletown; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Zentz of Thurmont, Mrs. Elsi Wise of Frederick; and Mrs. Ruth Rice of Wilmington, Del.; two brothers, Joseph Shafer and Oscar Shafer, both of Middletown; and 11 grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Gladhill Funeral Home in Middletown after 7 p.m. today. Services will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. The Rev. George Klinefelter will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
